FAQs

What counts as a check?
Every VAT ID validation request counts as one check — whether from the dashboard, the API or a batch. Each scheduled re-check counts too. Automatic retries after an unreachable registry, and routing to manual review, do not consume a second check.
What's the difference between a simple and a qualified check?
A simple check confirms a VAT ID is valid. A qualified check additionally verifies the registered name and address. Name & address matching via VIES is available on every plan; automatic confirmations from national registries such as Germany's Bundeszentralamt für Steuern come with Team and Enterprise.
Which countries can I validate?
All EU VAT IDs via the official VIES service on every plan. From Team upwards you also get automatic validation against national registries — the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Australia and New Zealand, plus Germany's BZSt. Any other country can be validated by hand via manual review.
What's the difference between monthly checks and stored VAT IDs?
Monthly checks are the validations you run each month and reset every billing cycle. Stored VAT IDs is how many distinct IDs you can keep on file with their history — a standing limit that doesn't reset. The two numbers are independent.
Can I re-check VAT IDs automatically?
Yes. The scheduler (Team and Enterprise) re-validates your stored VAT IDs monthly, quarterly or yearly, so your records stay current.
Can I attach evidence to a validation?
On Enterprise you get 1 GB of evidence storage to attach documents (e.g. certificates) to individual validations. On every plan, each result already stores the registry's raw response as proof.
Is TrustComponent VAT Checker hosted in Europe?
Yes. Everything is GDPR-compliant and hosted in the European Union, with a Data Processing Agreement available online.
